Barbra Streisand wasn't just singing her own hits last week. The diva actually ventured out to sample several South Florida restaurants and couldn't say enough about them. Streisand sang the praises of Johnny V Las Olas and Joe's Stone Crab, but who knew the diva would be willing to get down and dirty last Thursday at Fort Lauderdale's venerable Rustic Inn, a crab shack where crustacean-crushing mallets are de rigueur?
It was business as usual until Babs, hubby James Brolin and two unidentified men ''came right through the kitchen,'' says our tattle. Yeah, but did she smash her own crabs and ruin her nails, or did she have a lackey do it? ''The waiter went over and said you can either crack your own crabs or we'll take the liberty of cracking them for you. She ordered the already cracked versions,'' says our tattle, who, er, cracked, ``They didn't give me that option.''
After the sold-out Streisand show on Saturday night, three members of Il Divo came to celebrate at Social Miami at the Sagamore. The three, Carlos Marin, David Miller and Sebastien Izambard, drank champagne and Imperia Vodka all night.
Comedian Jon Lovitz was seen at the Delano this week. According to a source, ``He is very entertaining and has a genuine comedic personality, but is extremely low-key.''
So it's midnight at the crazy Hustler Halloween party at Mansion. Hustler girl Jenna Haze is dancing on the stage as 1,500 people swarm in the crowd. All of a sudden, someone releases two white doves into the audience. One landed on the turntable while the other poor thing was flitting amid the madness. Who steps in, but Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's Jai Rodriguez, there filming his new travel show for SíTV. Rodriguez, dressed as a pirate, helped the staff catch the doves and bring them outside. Peace out, indeed.
Fallen From The Sky, a rock 'n' roll quintet that emerged from the depths of a Boca Raton garage, has been selected to participate in MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout, a battle of the bands competition looking to scout out the next big thing. Winner is chosen in December after three bands face off live at MTV's Times Square Studio. It's a long way from Boca and we wish them the best!
